AI-supported perovskite ink analytics for quality control of next-generation solar cells

PeroInk

Printable, ultra-thin, and ultra-light perovskite solar cells offer disruptive potential for the photovoltaics sector by enabling entirely new surface applications and providing an option for densification—without competing with silicon technology or land use. With projected annual growth rates of 30–40% through 2031, they open up significant economic opportunities. The PeroInk project is developing an AI-supported analytical method that revolutionizes quality control for perovskite inks. This shortens production cycles, reduces costs, and minimizes material waste, thereby strengthening industrial scalability and the competitiveness of European companies. By locally producing precursor materials and relying on simple raw materials, the project reduces strategic dependence on imports from outside Europe and increases resilience against global supply chain risks.

Combining technological innovation, economic potential, and sustainability, PeroInk contributes to the competitiveness of the EU internal market and supports the objectives of the EFRE program in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Project value: 1 456 315.05 €
